Speech pathology services are provided to patients regardless their age. A person may require a speech pathology therapy if he or she suffers from feeding and swallowing difficulties, cognitive delays, stuttering, articulation disorders, developmental speech delay or needs help in improving verbal communication. Toddlers and preschool kids may need some additional assistance to master basic communicating skills. Children of school age often need speech therapy to correct their articulation errors. Adults may require the help of a speech therapist in case they have had an injury that has affected their communication abilities or swallowing. Speech therapists also in demand among elderly people as the latter often suffer from swallowing and communication difficulties.
